We are currently looking to recruit for the following vacancy



Refuge Support Worker 22.5 hours per week £19,509 Pro Rata for part time staff


(Fixed term 31st March 2018)


 Possibility of extension in fixed term depending on funding



This is  an  exciting  opportunity to join our Domestic Abuse Service in Newport.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an appropriate support and information service, responding to the emotional and practical needs of women and children living in the NWA refuges working within the NWA and Supporting People Framework. They will assist and facilitate service users to make informed decisions and positive changes to their lives, to minimize risk of homelessness and enhance their future. Using  the self-help principle to encourage independence and empower the service user to succeed on all levels.


The successful candidate is required to participate in the organisation’s 24 hour
on-call Rotas.

Group-work and Support Officer 35 hours per week (pro rata)


Salary Scale £20,013-£21.949 per annum pro rata 35 hours per week, fulltime equivalent 37.5 hours.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Domestic Abuse Service in Newport.  The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating a range of domestic abuse specific group-work programmes aimed at empowering victims of domestic abuse (DA) to build positive and health futures.  This will include promoting programmes to professionals and victims; completing assessments; running groups; and completing the relevant review paperwork.

To deliver programmes focusing on healthy relationships within educational and community settings, including those aimed at C+YP as and when required.

To support the Information Centre Support Worker with completing crisis assessments, signposting victims of domestic abuse, completing safety planning and taking part in the Daily Domestic Abuse Conference Call (DACC).

This role will include outreach and running groups in the local community.  At times it will also involve working with male victims.  It will at times also involve working with perpetrators of DA.

The successful candidate is required to participate in the organisation’s 24 hour on-call rotas.
